Parachute Law Solicitors and Better Business Act

Parachute Law is proud to support the Better Business Act, a campaign to change UK law to ensure that company directors are responsible for advancing the interests of shareholders alongside those of wider society and the environment.

Our firm joined the Better Business Act coalition because we believe the world needs every business at its best -- creating good jobs, helping to fix pressing problems and adding value to society. This aligns with our company’s business ethics.

We join hundreds of businesses calling for a straightforward legislative solution: the Better Business Act will amend section 172 of The Companies Act to ensure that company directors are responsible for advancing the interests of shareholders alongside those of wider society and the environment.

Our Co-Founder Claudine Boast, has always believed in doing better business, especially when it comes to access to justice.

Once, before founding Employment Law Friend, Claudine was giving legal advice to a client who was struggling with severe PTSD.

When it looked like they would have to stop the meeting due to the client's distress, Claudine nipped out, picked up her Pomeranian puppy, and settled her down with the client, who was soothed enough to continue the meeting.

The Better Business Act is a business-led campaign, driven by leaders who recognise that the law has fallen behind business culture and who have proven that this approach to business ethics works for everyone.

We believe that the Better Business Act is a unique opportunity to demonstrate UK leadership on the global stage – creating a competitive advantage, driving innovation, accelerating progress to net zero, and aligning with the government’s ambition to build back better.

Parachute Law is committed to reducing the environmental impact of legal services. Our contactless services with paperless documents (wherever legally possible) reduce travel emissions, postage emissions and paper consumption as well as keeping our clients and our staff safe during the global pandemic.

We also pledge to support working families and single parents who are already benefitting from our online appointments from the comfort of their own homes, as well as out of hours and expedited options.

As a firm, we support access to justice and equality. We believe services must be more accessible to the less mobile, whether due to physical impairments, mental health, responsibility for dependants, or limited finances.

We are leading the way by promoting the use of tech to reduce cost to our clients as well as overcoming any need for travel.

Hundreds of businesses have already signed up to create a cleaner, greener, fairer future for all. Together, we will ask for the government’s leadership to help deliver this new contract between business and society. Join us, act now:
